HECTOR BERLIOZ

Symphonie fantastique

Our final program of the year embarks on a whirlwind tour of life, love, death and dreams. From joy to whimsy and irony, Brahms’ Liebeslieder Waltzes explore the many facets of love, and will bring a smile to your face as you sway to the irrepressibly catchy waltz rhythms.

Enjoy a rare performance of Brahms’ lesser-known choral work, Nänie. Written to commemorate the death of a friend, this musical memorial truly radiates with compassion.

Then, it’s an abrupt shift from the sublime to the macabre. A perennial favorite, Berlioz’Symphonie fantastique has an alchemy all its own, combining obsession, ecstasy, passion, and delirium into a gripping musical tale that blazes bright.

NEW THIS SEASON: Pre-Concert Talks will be at the matinee and evening performances.

Join Musicologist Bradley Berg and Music Director Eric Garcia (and special guests) as they guide you through the music you are about to hear, providing an enlightening look at the repertoire and composers before the performance begins. Bring your questions! Please gather inside the concert hall by the stage.

Matinee Pre-Concert Talk starts at 11:45 am

Evening Pre-Concert Talk starts at 6:15 pm
